Insight for research into immunotherapy

Friday, March 8, 2019

At the end of 2018, instead of sending out traditional holiday gifts to business relations, Milgro decided to make a donation to the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital (AvL) in Amsterdam in support of immunotherapy research. Immunotherapy is a promising treatment for cancer which helps the body’s own immune system to better destroy cancerous cells.

Last month, several financial donors, including Milgro’s CEO Laurens Groen, were invited by AvL and the foundation CarolaHelpt to see with their own eyes how the money is being spent.

Researchers Trieu My Van and professor dr. Christian Blank presented the research group’s newest acquisition: a Digital Spatial Microscope. This microscope allows researchers to determine the ‘signature’ of a biopt within days; a process which until recently took up to a year.

The new microscope provides researchers with the insight they need in their fight against cancer. Milgro is glad to have been able to support them.
